I have bought throw away trimmers for years. I bought one of these at Costco. It works perfectly. I really like the ease of loading string. There are no more line tangles from winding the spool wrong. That always pissed me off about the cheap trimmers. The manual is pretty much useless and it is not the easiest to start, but once going functions better than any I have used. It has the feel and use of a high quality tool! I would buy again.

Love this thing. It's solid, well built and pretty nicely balanced. The motor has a lot of torque, is pretty efficient and runs relatively quietly. You do have to mix gas and oil, which is weird for a four stroke, but that's by no means a deal breaker. The string head is easy to load, once you figure it out, but the instructions are no help at all. All you have to do is line up a couple of marks (you'll be able to see straight through the head in one small spot when it's right) and pull 8 feet or so of line half way through the head. Then, you turn the bottom half of the head while holding the top to pull the line into the internal spool. Get it right once and it's cake after that.
The only drawback I've found is that it'll take a few too many pulls to get it to start when it's cold.

I previously owned a professional-model Shindaiwa trimmer, which was great and nearly indestructible. This one by Swisher has an advanced type of Shindaiwa engine, is lighter weight, and due to its higher RPM cuts unbelievably well. Vines, twigs on tree branches, tall weeds, all are practically vaporized. The self-feeding spool works as advertised-- you can restring it in 30 seconds, without tools-- once you know how it works and what to expect. The manual does a very poor job of explaining how the spool works. It only provides an illustration with arrows and symbols, and no text explaining how you're supposed to thread the replacement line. I did it wrong the first time, then had to use up the line by trimming, with only one feed instead of two, because I couldn't figure out how to remove the line once installed. Now I know what to expect and can load new line in no time.
